Braces
Braces are used to correct crooked teeth or a bad bite (malocclusion). During checkups, we will tighten the wire that connects the brackets. Pressure from the wire and brackets will move teeth into proper alignment, resulting in a straighter smile that is easier to keep clean. Phase 1 orthodontic treatment usually includes braces and begins around the ages of 8–14. While early treatment can promote a healthy smile during development, braces have helped many adults achieve straighter teeth. We proudly offer traditional metal braces, ceramic braces, and lingual braces to patients of all ages.
Invisalign
Invisalign treatment includes a series of aligners that you wear for about 22 hours each day. These aligners, similar to braces, gradually place pressure on the teeth to move them into their proper positions. Unlike braces, however, Invisalign clear aligners are removable and do not require brackets or wires. You can take out your aligners to eat, brush your teeth, and play sports, and there are no dietary restrictions. Invisalign is a great option for many children beginning Phase 1 orthodontic treatment and teens and adults who desire straighter teeth but do not want the look and feel of traditional braces.
Why Choose an Orthodontic Specialist?
Orthodontists specialize in the alignment of teeth and improving a patient’s bite. A straight smile is important for maintaining good oral health, and orthodontists help patients achieve a confident, properly aligned smile they can enjoy for life. After completing dental school, orthodontists must complete an orthodontic residency program, which includes several additional years of training in their specialty. As a board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Astuto upholds the highest national standards for patient care.
